At Aestus, we are commonly asked if our technology will work near coastlines or in high-salinity areas. While standard electrical resistivity imaging (ERI), for example, struggles to detect contamination in these conditions, Aestus’ GeoTrax Survey™ electrical imaging was designed specifically to see what others can’t.
The graphic below shows a data set acquired in a brackish groundwater environment at a project site where the GeoTrax Survey™ image accurately identified a zone of contamination (seen as the more electrically resistive anomaly, orange and red colors, surrounded by the more conductive background conditions, the blue colors). The targeted well drilled into that anomaly found groundwater impacts (TCE and petroleum hydrocarbons) above standards while nearby, untargeted wells were below standards.
