One of the most common questions we hear is: “Can you really collect high-quality electrical resistivity data in urban or developed environments?”
The answer is YES.
While some firms avoid locations with buildings, pavement, traffic, or other logistical challenges, Aestus has built its GeoTrax Survey™ protocols around solving exactly these types of problems. Whether the project site includes warehouses, active facilities, parking lots, roadways, or narrow spaces between structures, our team has the experience and equipment to acquire meaningful subsurface data where traditional approaches can be difficult, costly, or disruptive.
Our GeoTrax Surveys™ only require a straight-line deployment path for the electrode array. When necessary, we can drill small pilot holes through building floors, concrete, or asphalt so electrodes can make direct contact with the soil beneath. These holes are patched after use, minimizing impacts to the site.
For locations with vehicle or pedestrian traffic, we utilize traffic ramps that allow safe passage across survey lines while protecting our equipment and maintaining operational continuity. This flexibility allows our clients to obtain high-resolution subsurface imaging in areas where deploying drill rigs may be difficult or where a more complete understanding of site conditions is needed before drilling begins. By adapting to challenging site conditions rather than avoiding them, we help clients reduce uncertainty and make more informed decisions about characterization, remediation, groundwater, and infrastructure projects.
